Epson has always a pioneer in technology. In the 1940s, the small watch company called Daiwa Kogyo was created and later became Seiko and eventually transformed into the Seiko Epson corporation.
Epson introduced its first "electronic printer" (EP) in 1968. Soon after, Epson introduced the first business printer, the smallest in the world, called the informal "son" of the EP. This is how the modern Epson company originated.
In 1990, Seiko Epson corporation created the European headquarters located in Amsterdam. Nowadays, Epson products are available in 94 countries worldwide.
Epson is a very innovative company. On a daily basis, the company spends € 1.2 million on research and development. Epson also has 50,000 active patents and is among the top 100 global innovators.
The company also strives to be eco-friendly and aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 90% over the life cycle of all its products by 2050.
So far, they have successfully reduced CO2 emissions in the distribution process by 24%. Also the ink packs are 50% recyclable, the amount of recycled waste is 100% and the printer's energy consumption has decreased by 73%.
